Middleware Engineer
Vidoori, Inc., a rapidly growing small business that specializes in building strong Engineering teams that provide high quality, modern technical solutions to our clients, is seeking a Middleware Engineer to support a client in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Responsibilities of the Middleware Engineer:
- Responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, monitoring and daily maintenance of enterprise-wide architectures
- Interact with Software Development and infrastructure teams to define hardware requirements required to implement application solutions and troubleshoot technical issues
- Creates, implements and manages expansive database administration programs
- Standing up and administering Middleware & Container Orchestration Solutions in on-perm and Amazon Cloud
- Installation, configuration, risk mitigation and remediation, performance tuning and trouble-shooting/triage
- Troubleshooting web and middleware environments
- Participates in the design, maintenance, enhancement, coding, and administration of relational databases
- Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities
- Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure
- Reviews business requests for data and data usage, researches data sources for new and better data feeds
- Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions
- Solves complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
- Performs work without need for direct supervision
- Makes sound decisions that achieve critical organizational objectives
- Functions in project leadership roles and prime customer contact on significant technical matters
- Participates in client/project meeting(s) for highly complex project definition, needs assessment and design review. Evaluates the needs and requirements of the users and provides technical expertise in the development of technical, structural and organizational specifications. Determine appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization
- Designs, develops and integrates highly complex database systems for internal and external users/clients
- Creates, documents and implements standards and/or complex modeling to monitor and enhance the capacity and performance of the database.
- Codes complex programs and derives logical processes on technical platforms
- Performs complex analyses and reviews applications being released into production
- Prepares recommendations and presentations to a diverse audience
- Migration from On-prem Databases to AWS RDS or EC2 Instances using DMS
Technologies and Tools:
- AWS GovCloud, Azure DevOps, Oracle Database, MySQL, PL/SQL, ASM, Linux/Unix, Toad, SQL Developer, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Exadata, Weblogic, Webtire
Required Experience of the Middleware Engineer:
- Experience with Oracle database and middleware design/architecture
- Experience with AWS GovCloud and Azure DevOps
- Experience with Oracle database version upgrade efforts from current to latest
- Experience with Oracle Data Guard implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance
- Web application development experience in any MVC framework
- A solid understanding of object-oriented design and Computer Science fundamentals
- Experience with designing, developing and debugging stored procedures
- Experience with reviewing database performance trends and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Experience working directly with databases to verify data using SQL queries
- Experience with enterprise-level test automation frameworks
- Familiarity in Oracle Exadata platform
- General knowledge of system design, analysis, requirements gathering
- Effective communication and problem solving skills to resolve customer issues
Preferred Experience of the Middleware Engineer:
- General knowledge of Oracle-based Database as a Service Cloud
- Experience supporting the Department of Defense projects
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Five (5) years of experience in data base administration, with a Bachelor’s Degree, or three (3) years of experience in data administration with a Master’s Degree
- Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Certification Level I (DoD 8570.01-M) (i.e., CompTIA A+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, or SSCP) required
- Oracle Certified Associate required within 180 days of start date
