IT Summer Intern – Role Overview
As an IT Summer Intern, you will assist the IT team in delivering reliable, secure, and user-focused technology services. You will gain practical experience in desktop support, basic network and systems administration, cloud service configuration, and security best practices. The placement offers mentorship, practical responsibilities, and exposure to an agile, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide first- and second-line technical support for end users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues through ticketing systems and direct interaction.

Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes: account provisioning, access management, device configuration, and secure data handling.

Support maintenance and administration of cloud-based services and SaaS applications; assist with routine configuration, monitoring, and updates.

Participate in simple network and systems tasks such as patching, backups, inventory management, and documentation of configurations and procedures.

Help implement and test security controls and best practices, including multi-factor authentication, endpoint protection, and secure configuration checks.

Collaborate with engineering and product teams on small projects and improvement initiatives; prepare clear technical notes and contribute to knowledge base articles.

Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff, track resolution progress, and follow up with users to ensure satisfactory outcomes.
Essential Skills and Experience

Currently studying towards a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or a related field, or a recent graduate with relevant coursework.

Basic experience with Windows and/or macOS desktop support and familiarity with common productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace).

Understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN) and basic experience with network troubleshooting tools.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (for example: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) or willingness to learn cloud service administration and IAM principles.

Awareness of information security principles and common controls; interest in applying security best practices in real environments.

Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time across multiple tasks in a busy support environment.

Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues; collaborative and customer-focused approach.
