IT Project Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking an IT Project Manager to plan and deliver technology projects that support organisational priorities. This role is responsible for coordinating people, budgets, timelines, risks, and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle, while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders and ensuring delivery meets agreed requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong project management expertise with a practical understanding of IT environments, effective stakeholder engagement, and a focus on measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead IT projects from initiation and planning through delivery, implementation, transition, and closure
Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, success measures, and governance in collaboration with stakeholders
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, resource forecasts, RAID logs, and supporting documentation
Coordinate project teams across IT, product, operations, suppliers, and business functions to support timely and effective delivery
Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, assumptions, and change requests, escalating concerns and agreeing appropriate actions
Monitor project progress against agreed scope, schedule, cost, quality, and benefits, taking corrective action where required
Facilitate project meetings, workshops, planning sessions, and decision-making forums, ensuring actions and decisions are recorded and followed up
Provide clear, regular project updates to sponsors, senior leaders, delivery teams, and other stakeholders
Manage stakeholder expectations and build constructive working relationships across technical and non-technical teams
Oversee procurement and supplier engagement for project activities, including deliverables, performance, costs, and contractual dependencies
Support requirements gathering and ensure that solutions align with business needs, technical standards, security requirements, and operational considerations
Coordinate testing, user acceptance, training, communications, deployment, and business readiness activities
Plan handover to operational teams and ensure support arrangements, documentation, and ownership are in place before project closure
Track project benefits and outcomes, capturing lessons learned and opportunities for continuous improvement
Apply appropriate project management methods, controls, and governance, adapting delivery approaches to project complexity and organisational requirements
Required Qualifications
Significant experience managing IT projects through the full project lifecycle
Proven ability to develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules, resources, risks, issues, and dependencies
Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and delivering technology projects involving multiple stakeholders
Strong understanding of project governance, change control, reporting, quality management, and benefits tracking
Ability to communicate project status, risks, decisions, and technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent organisation, prioritisation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail
Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changing requirements and delivery constraints
Working knowledge of IT delivery environments, including software, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, data, or business systems projects
Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools, such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms
Understanding of information security, data protection, risk management, and change management considerations in IT projects
Preferred Qualifications
Project management certification, such as PRINCE2, APM, PMP, or an equivalent qualification
Experience delivering projects using Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies
Experience managing cloud migration, infrastructure, systems implementation, software development, cybersecurity, or digital transformation projects
Experience managing external suppliers, consultants, contracts, procurement processes, and service transition
Experience working with project portfolio management, financial tracking, or enterprise project governance processes
Familiarity with IT service management practices, including ITIL, operational readiness, and support handover
